Virtual Computing
Desktop computing, as it is
practiced in most businesses today, is broken.
Windows desktops are not secure. They are plagued by
email-borne viruses and other malware. And
hardware and software support on multiple
workstations remains expensive. For this and
other reasons, the Virtual Desktop is
replacing the standard PC/Server environment.
Desktop virtualization provides a
way to cut costs and improve security and
manageability through centralization. It can also
permit added flexibility for remote access
situations, be used to quickly install new
applications, (a factor which has become more
important with frequent updates), and it
accommodates new user provisioning more
intelligently and swiftly than current PC/Server
platforms.
Relevynt is a strong advocate of desktop virtualization as a means of
addressing the manageability and flexibility issues
surrounding our increasingly complex IT infrastructures. Desktop virtualization,
at its simplest, permits separation of the users' desktop
peripherals (screen, keyboard, mouse, etc) from the
processing power used to drive them. In any office
Desktop Virtualization can:
-
Reduce administration and
support costs
-
Provision systems to the end
users more quickly
-
Simplify maintenance
-
Reduce hardware costs
-
Reduce user and
infrastructure costs
-
Improve data security
-
Improve network security
-
Enhance user mobility
-
Aid flexibility

to Windows Vista or avoid the upgrade for
